Kraftway’s history dates back to 1993 when the company was founded in Moscow and produced its first PC and a server under GEG brand. The company grew rapidly in the 90’s to become of the leading Russian PC builders.
In 2002 Kraftway upgraded its production facilities in Moscow and started the construction of a brand new factory in Kaluga region. After a merge with Forward Technologies, one of the top Russian server builders, in 2003 Kraftway reinforced its leading position on the market. The same year Kraftway formed an alliance with Bull to supply multi-processor servers to Russian customers. The following year Kraftway signed an unprecedented co-labeling agreement with Hitachi Data Systems, and an OEM contract with Silicon Graphics. Kraftway also set up its own service company.
In 2005 Kraftway replaced it GEG PC brand by two new brands Kraftway Idea (for home users) and Kraftway Credo (for business users), signed an OEM contract with Red Hat and opened its own Competence Center.
In 2006 the company began software development and launched a series of software product. Management Pack for Microsoft Operating Manager (MOM) became a finalist of Microsoft OEM Hardware Solutions competition.
In 2007 Kraftway opened new state-of-the art production facilities near Moscow and welcomed Sergey Ivanov, the first deputy prime minister, at the factory. The company received numerous awards including Telecom Ministry Quality Award, Company of the Year Award, Cnews IT-Company of the Year Award among others.
In 2008 the Russian movie director Timur Bekmambetov chose Kraftway hardware for visual effects production for his Hollywood debut Wanted with Angelina Jolie, Morgan Freeman and James McAvoy.
The same year Kraftway brought to market a news all-in-one Kraftway Studio PC.
In 2009 Kraftway offered a round the clock support to its customers across Russia. The company was nominated The Best IT Supplier for Government Needs.
In 2009 Kraftway's President Alexey Kravtsov was elected President of the Russian Skating Union.
In April 2010 President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev paid a visit to Kraftway’s plant and held a meeting of Commission for Modernization and Technological Development of Russia's Economy.
In 2010 the company signed an agreement with a telecom giant Cisco establishing a special procedure for the certification of Cisco products in Obninsk manufacturing facilities.
